Two Mexican Christmas carols by Silvino Jaramillo, with arrangements and orchestrations by Arturo Rodríguez, are featured on the program: "México, Ángel y Pastor" and
"Villancico Mexicano."
Also featured is David Coleman's The Good News Voyage, a celebration of the American folk music known today as the Negro Spiritual. The piece takes us on a journey from the dialects and musical sounds of West Africa, where many enslaved people had roots, to those of the Caribbean and of America. Enjoy this sneak peek of "Go Tell It
on the Mountain," sung in Swahili by the Tanglewood Festival Chorus (TFC).
Darin Kelly's arrangement, "Of Lights, Nights, and Brass" is another concert highlight, spotlighting the Pops brass section in this celebratory tribute to Hanukkah.
After 20 long months, the TFC is back! And the Holiday Pops concert wouldn't be complete without David Chase's arrangement of "The Twelve Days of Christmas," showcasing the talents of the TFC.
